Frequently Asked Questions

Where did your passion for education come from?

My passion for education was ignited during my freshman year of high school. From a young age, I had always been curious and eager to share the knowledge I acquired. Initially, I had aspirations of becoming a detective but I began to realize that path no longer aligned with my goals. During this realization period of my life, I took a step back to reflect on my future career. I was introduced to the field of education shortly after. In the beginning, my interest developed gradually, but over time, I came to realize that teaching is far more than simply delivering information for students to memorize. Education is about fostering critical thinking, inspiring curiosity, and creating meaningful learning experiences. This realization solidified my commitment to becoming an educator dedicated to shaping the minds of future generations.

What would you say is the biggest obstacle in education?

I believe one of the most significant challenges in education today is the lack of culturally responsive pedagogy. While this may not apply to all districts, some continue to rely on outdated approaches that do not fully address the diverse backgrounds and experiences of students. As an educator, my priority is to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment where students feel both comfortable and empowered. By incorporating culturally responsive teaching strategies, I strive to foster meaningful connections, enhance student engagement, and support academic success for all learners.
